Algerian Senate President Bids Farewell to Egyptian Ambassador

Algiers – On Sunday, the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nasri, received Egypt’s Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Mokhtar Gameel Tawfiq Wreida, on a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission. The meeting highlighted the strong bilateral momentum driven by the shared commitment of Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to deepen cooperation and strengthen fraternal ties. Mr. Nasri emphasized the need to activate consultation mechanisms, boost economic collaboration, and increase mutual investments, particularly in light of Algeria’s investment and mining laws. He also noted the alignment of Algerian and Egyptian positions on key international issues, notably the Palestinian cause, stressing joint efforts to end ongoing atrocities and support Palestinian rights. Additionally, Mr. Nasri underlined the importance of African-led solutions to the continent’s crises and advocated for reforming the UN to grant Africa a permanent seat on the Security Council. Ambassador Wreida praised the quality of bilateral ties and the growing Algerian-Egyptian rapprochement in recent years.
