Algeria Poised for Record Trade Growth and Tourism Expansion

Algeria’s economy is on a strong upswing thanks to government-led initiatives in trade, energy, and tourism. The upcoming Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), set to be hosted in Algiers this September, is expected to attract more than 2,000 exhibitors and generate billions of dollars in trade and investment contracts. Forecasts indicate potential deals could surpass $44 billion, marking a transformative moment for Algeria as a hub of African commerce.

By connecting local manufacturers and exporters with international partners, the fair is set to boost industrial output and diversify the economy beyond hydrocarbons. Officials highlight that this initiative will “create new opportunities for Algerian businesses and workers while strengthening the country’s role as a continental trade leader.”

Meanwhile, Algeria is capitalizing on its cultural and natural resources to expand tourism and attract more visitors. Current projects include the construction of 582 new tourism facilities, which will add around 70,000 hotel beds by the end of 2025. This expansion will bring total national capacity to more than 210,000 beds, easing accommodation shortages and opening the door for large-scale tourist arrivals. The government has streamlined regulations, provided investment incentives, and designated new coastal and high-plateau tourist zones.

Together, these efforts reflect Algeria’s determination to diversify the economy, create sustainable jobs, and enhance the country’s profile as both a trade and tourism destination. Citizens and investors alike can be reassured that Algeria’s economic trajectory is firmly positive.
