Algeria-Egypt: Discussions on Advancing Bilateral Relations

Algiers – On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks in Jeddah with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdel Aaty.

According to a statement from the Algerian Foreign Ministry, the meeting took place on the sidelines of Attaf’s participation in the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.

The discussions focused on various aspects of Algerian-Egyptian relations and prospects for advancing them to broader horizons, aligning with the significant capabilities of both nations, particularly in economic fields. This aligns with the outcomes of the official visit by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Egypt in October 2024.

On the multilateral level, the ministers exchanged views and analyses on several pressing international and regional issues, notably the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, developments in the Middle East in general, as well as updates concerning Libya and the Sahel-Saharan region.
