National People’s Assembly Highlights from Guatemala Algeria’s Commitment to Strengthening South-South Cooperation

describing parliamentary diplomacy as a “key lever for bringing peoples closer and building sustainable partnerships,” according to a statement from the Assembly. The statement noted that Kezout delivered a speech on behalf of the Speaker of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, before the General Assembly of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) at its permanent headquarters in Guatemala. In his address, he expressed Algeria’s pride in its parliamentary cooperation with the region’s countries, stressing “the importance Algeria attaches to strengthening South-South cooperation, with parliamentary diplomacy serving as an essential tool for fostering closer ties between peoples and establishing sustainable partnerships.”

Kezout highlighted that “Algeria, under the wise leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, places special importance on advancing this approach,” noting that “parliamentary cooperation between the National People’s Assembly and PARLACEN is part of this framework.”

He also underscored “Algeria’s efforts within its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, particularly in defending the Palestinian cause and calling for an end to the aggression against the Palestinian people.” He added that “Algeria, as the largest country in Africa, seeks to serve as a bridge for communication between Africa and Central America, in service of the interests of the peoples of both continents.”
