Algeria and India Reinforce Military Ties as Senior Army Chiefs Meet in Algiers


General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of Algeria’s National People’s Army and Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, received General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Indian Army, at the conclusion of the latter’s official visit to Algeria at the head of a high-ranking military delegation.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, General Chanegriha praised the progress achieved in bilateral relations between Algeria and India, highlighting the momentum that has developed since the meeting between President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and India’s President during her state visit to Algiers in October of last year.

He emphasized that this landmark visit provided fresh impetus to Algerian-Indian military cooperation, invigorating the relationship through exchanges of high-level visits and the establishment of stronger channels of dialogue between the two armies.

The talks reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to deepen strategic partnership and enhance coordination in the field of defense, underscoring Algeria’s growing role as a reliable regional partner and India’s interest in fostering closer ties with the African continent.
