Seifi Gherib Assumes Duties as Acting Prime Minister

Algiers – On Thursday afternoon, August 28, 2025, Seifi Gherib officially assumed his duties as Acting Prime Minister during a handover ceremony with Nadir Larbaoui at the Government Palace, according to a statement.

Following the ceremony, Gherib stated: “Today, I have the honor of being entrusted by the President of the Republic with the position of Acting Prime Minister. I thank the President for the confidence he has placed in me.”

He added: “I am aware that a great deal of work awaits us, especially with the upcoming social re-entry. I pledge to work tirelessly to implement the President’s program on the ground and to bring to fruition all the projects that will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the national economy.”

For his part, Larbaoui congratulated Gherib on the trust bestowed upon him by the President of the Republic. He also expressed “his sincere thanks and deep gratitude to the President for the confidence placed in him throughout his tenure in this role.”

Earlier that day, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune signed a presidential decree terminating the duties of Nadir Larbaoui as Prime Minister and appointing Seifi Gherib as Acting Prime Minister in his place.
