Algiers – On Sunday, August 31, 2025, the administration of Salim Zemirli Hospital in the capital announced the suspension of a nurse who filmed the preparation of a deceased patient’s body and posted the video on the “TikTok” platform.
In a statement, the hospital said: “Following the regrettable incident that occurred in the intensive care unit of the Salim Zemirli Specialized Hospital, involving a nurse violating the sanctity of a deceased patient by filming them within the unit and sharing the video on social media, the hospital administration strongly condemns this unethical act, which contradicts professional norms and the regulations governing the nursing profession. This act represents a serious violation of the patient’s dignity and rights, even after their passing.”
The statement added that “the individual concerned has been immediately suspended from work pending the outcome of administrative and judicial investigations, in accordance with the applicable laws that criminalize such actions.”
