Algiers – On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Acting Prime Minister Saifi Gharib chaired a joint ministerial meeting at the Government Palace to follow up on the implementation of the President’s directives regarding the promotion of exports, particularly through the development of ports dedicated to cement and clinker exports, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office reported by aps.dz.
The meeting included the participation of the Ministers of Finance, Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Public Works, and Transport, as well as the Governor of the Bank of Algeria and economic operators active in the cement export sector.
Following presentations on the status of infrastructure at the various ports involved in export operations, and after addressing the concerns and proposals of the attending economic operators, a series of practical and immediate measures were adopted. These measures aim to support the export of cement and clinker in the short term, particularly by optimizing the use of existing infrastructure to enhance storage capacities and manage logistical costs. Additionally, proposals were reviewed to ensure greater fluidity for exported materials in the medium term, especially in light of significant upcoming investments in this sector expected to come into operation soon.
The discussions underscored Algeria’s commitment to strengthening its export capabilities, leveraging its port infrastructure to boost the cement industry’s contribution to the national economy.
