Aggression on Qatar: International Community Must Deter the Zionist Entity and Curb Its Reckless Escalation

Algiers – On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Algeria, through its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ammar Ben Jamaa, reaffirmed that the latest Zionist aggression on Doha targeted a prominent mediator working for peace, proving that the occupation is not seeking peace but perpetuating war. Algeria called on the international community to deter the Zionist entity and curb its reckless escalation.

In his speech during a UN Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, Ben Jamaa addressed the recent Zionist attack on Qatar, stating: “We meet today once again in the wake of a serious and unlawful act committed by Israel.”

He described the attack on Doha as “not only a violation of the sovereignty of a UN member state but an insult to diplomacy,” adding that “the strike targeted a mediator worthy of praise, tirelessly working to end the bloodshed in Gaza. This conclusively proves that Israel is not seeking peace, the release of hostages, or an end to hostilities, but rather perpetuating the war.”

Ben Jamaa renewed Algeria’s strongest condemnation of the cowardly Zionist aggression that targeted Doha, expressing full solidarity with the brotherly state of Qatar and its people.

He added that “the world is witnessing what is happening and feeling powerless before horrific images of destruction and human despair.” He noted that “in recent days, Israel has struck Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, and now a prominent mediator working for peace—Qatar.”

He warned that the Zionist entity “acts as if it is above the law, as if the law does not exist, as if borders are non-existent, and as if sovereignty is a dispensable concept. It behaves as if the UN Charter is a feeble text, while thousands of innocents are being exterminated in Gaza.”

In the context of Israel’s violations, Ben Jamaa stated that it “relies primarily on savagery, believing that repression brings strength and coercion ensures security. But history has taught us that the path to domination brings neither peace nor stability; violence begets violence, and impunity breeds war.” He cautioned that “the silence of the international community and this Council fuels chaos.”

Finally, after highlighting that “the Council is unable to act, unable to name the aggressor or classify the aggression as a violation of international law,” Ben Jamaa questioned: “When will the international community wake up, fulfill its responsibilities, deter the occupier, and stop the crimes? When will it curb this reckless escalation that threatens the entire region and the world?”

After emphasizing the “need for real action and measures to subject Israel to accountability, breaking the cycle of impunity,” Ben Jamaa affirmed that “the UN Security Council must use all available tools, including sanctions, before it is too late.”
