The Minister of Communication emphasizes the necessity to double efforts to improve sector performance

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the Minister of Communication, Mr. Zuhair Bouamama, highlighted during a briefing meeting with ministry officials the necessity to double efforts to elevate the sector’s performance and improve the quality of media services, according to a ministry statement.

During this coordination meeting, which was his first since assuming his duties as head of the Ministry of Communication, Mr. Bouamama stressed the “need to double efforts to improve the communication sector’s performance and the quality of media services,” affirming the “importance of coordination and integration among the various directorates and departments of the ministry to achieve the set objectives.”

In this regard, “the minister provided practical guidelines concerning the methodology and working procedures for the upcoming period, aiming to create a true dynamic in the sector, based on a vision that emphasizes commitment, seriousness, initiative, and a sense of responsibility,” as indicated in the statement.

Accordingly, several important issues were addressed, notably “the necessity to resolve some pending administrative and organizational matters as soon as possible, while taking all measures to improve working conditions for all workers and employees, providing a suitable and motivating work environment to deliver better results.”

It was also decided — according to the same source — “to immediately establish a task force composed of the ministry’s existing competencies and to call on experts when necessary to complete the review of regulatory texts that should have been finalized earlier, following the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”

In a related context, the meeting confirmed the necessity of “seriously considering the reorganization of some sector institutions,” as well as “opening major workshops on important and priority topics related to audio-visual media, printed and electronic press, involving media professionals, experts, and all stakeholders in the field.”

This comes — as clarified in the statement — “in preparation for a period that will be loaded with work and efforts, to meet challenges and address many priority files and issues with responsibility and firmness, according to the vision presented by the minister during the handover ceremony, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic.”

In conclusion, Mr. Bouamama urged ministry officials to “show initiative and work based on a participatory approach aimed at increasing sector productivity and achieving a qualitative leap in the professional performance of all its members, to reach the required level.”
