Full Statement of the Council of Ministers Meeting

Algiers – President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired on Sunday a meeting of the Council of Ministers, according to an official communiqué, the full text of which reads as follows:

“Today, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers. At the opening, he welcomed the new government, wishing it success in its noble mission. He then gave the floor to the Prime Minister, who expressed gratitude for the President’s confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to implement the roadmap set by the Head of State for the next phase, centered on serving citizens and advancing participatory democracy. The President then issued his orientations and instructions to the government as follows:

  • He stressed the imperative of revitalizing government work through efficiency and effectiveness, with each sector excelling in its field and adopting a hands-on approach to public affairs.
  • He called for drawing lessons from past experiences and building on what has proven successful and beneficial for citizens.
  • He underlined that Algeria, as it steadily advances toward stability thanks to the efforts of its people, needs the solidarity and coordination of all government members to achieve comprehensive resilience across sectors and to strengthen credibility with public opinion through solutions that consolidate the internal front.
  • He reaffirmed the necessity of placing citizens and their concerns at the very top of priorities within work plans to ensure sustainable and definitive solutions.
  • He instructed the government to fulfill its responsibilities with the highest level of seriousness.
  • The President clarified that Algeria is not adopting austerity policies but rather pursuing intelligent governance, which lies at the heart of the presidential project aimed at elevating Algeria to the ranks of emerging nations through qualitative progress in social and economic development.
  • He ordered the government team to coordinate first and foremost with the Prime Minister, who serves as the essential link in government action.

Following these directives to the new government, the President instructed the preparation of sectoral reports and work plans to be presented during upcoming meetings of the Council of Ministers.

The session concluded with the Council approving decisions related to appointments and dismissals in senior state positions.”
