Adrar, September 28, 2025 – A new digital platform dedicated to promoting Algeria as a tourism destination was officially launched on Sunday in the province of Adrar, as part of activities marking World Tourism Day.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Association of Young Scouts in coordination with the “Ouyoun Al-Bouadi” Tourism Association, aims to integrate digital tools into Algeria’s tourism development strategy. According to association representative Mourad Belabbas, the platform will leverage modern media and communication channels to highlight Algeria’s diverse tourism assets across the country.
The launch event, held at the premises of the Directorate of Tourism and Handicrafts of Adrar, gathered tourism operators, artisans, support agencies, and local associations, offering a space to discuss challenges and opportunities for boosting the sector’s role in economic and social development.
According to Adrar’s Director of Tourism, Abdelrahman Khouna, the newly launched platform will serve as a gateway for digital tourism promotion, particularly showcasing the unique potential of Algeria’s desert tourism.
The celebration also featured a handicraft exhibition, stands for travel agencies and associations, presentations on strategies for developing Saharan tourism, the conclusion of a training workshop on black pottery, and the award for the best tourism photography. In addition, a field trip for schoolchildren was organized to visit the exhibition, aiming to instill a culture of tourism awareness among the younger generation.
This project underscores Algeria’s commitment to embracing digital transformation in tourism, while highlighting the cultural richness and natural diversity of the nation, from Saharan landscapes to traditional crafts, as part of its broader vision for sustainable development.
