Dean of Algiers Grand Mosque Receives Norwegian Ambassador

Algiers – The Dean of the Algiers Grand Mosque, Sheikh Mohamed El Mamoune El Qassimi El Hasni, received on Tuesday in the capital the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Algeria, Therese Løken Gheziel, according to a statement from the religious institution.

The meeting, held at the request of the Norwegian ambassador, centered on prospects for cooperation in the fields of interreligious and cultural dialogue, exchange of academic expertise, and the pivotal role of Algeria’s religious reference in promoting values of moderation and balance.

On this occasion, Sheikh El Qassimi El Hasni praised “Norway’s honorable positions regarding the Palestinian cause,” underlining that the Algiers Grand Mosque “remains open to all initiatives that serve global peace, support just causes, and strengthen bridges of understanding between peoples and cultures.”

This meeting reaffirmed Algeria’s tradition of leveraging its spiritual and cultural reference to foster international dialogue, while also aligning with its unwavering commitment to defending just causes such as Palestine and Western Sahara.
