Algiers – On Wednesday evening, the President of the People’s National Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Bouhgali, chaired the second coordination meeting devoted to hearing presentations by the second group of standing committee chairpersons on the work programs set for each committee within the current parliamentary session.
In his remarks, Mr. Bouhgali issued a series of recommendations aimed at strengthening the performance of the standing committees. He stressed the importance of establishing clear and practical programs, working with greater determination to improve parliamentary efficiency, and ensuring active engagement in resolving pressing issues that concern citizens. He also underlined the vital role of temporary fact-finding missions in addressing public concerns and providing concrete solutions.
The meeting heard presentations from the chairpersons of several key parliamentary committees, including the Committee on Legal, Administrative and Human Rights Affairs, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and the National Community Abroad, the Committee on Finance and Budget, the Committee on Culture, Communication and Tourism, and the Committee on Housing, Infrastructure, Water Resources and Urban Planning.
The work of these committees reflects Algeria’s commitment to building stronger democratic institutions and ensuring that the National Assembly remains at the heart of efforts to serve citizens’ interests, safeguard national sovereignty, and support Algeria’s principled positions, particularly its historic solidarity with just causes such as the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in the face of the Moroccan regime’s colonial ambitions.
