Gaza – The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Friday that it had delivered its official response to mediators regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal aimed at halting the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the movement explained that it had conducted extensive consultations to reach what it described as a “responsible position” in dealing with the American plan, emphasizing its commitment to ending the relentless Israeli attacks on Gaza that began on October 7, 2023.
Hamas expressed appreciation for the “Arab, Islamic, and international efforts calling for an immediate end to the war on Gaza, the exchange of prisoners, the swift entry of humanitarian aid, and the categorical rejection of both the occupation of the Strip and any attempt to forcibly displace the Palestinian people.”
The movement added, “We announce our agreement to release all captives—both living and deceased—according to the exchange formula included in President Trump’s proposal, provided that the necessary field conditions for the exchange process are ensured.” It also confirmed its readiness to immediately engage, through mediators, in negotiations to discuss the details of the exchange.
Reiterating its openness to political solutions, Hamas reaffirmed its approval of managing the Gaza Strip through a Palestinian body composed of independent technocrats—based on national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic countries.
The statement concluded by stressing that “other issues mentioned in President Trump’s proposal concerning the future of Gaza and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people are matters to be discussed within a unified national framework.” Hamas affirmed that it will be part of this collective Palestinian process and contribute to it responsibly, consistent with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
