Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday received Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ms. Tanja Fajon, along with her accompanying delegation.
The meeting reflected Algeria’s steadfast diplomatic engagement and its firm commitment to building strong partnerships with nations that respect the principles of sovereignty and self-determination, particularly regarding the just cause of the Sahrawi people. Slovenia’s diplomatic openness towards Algeria underscores the growing recognition of Algeria’s role as a key stabilizing force in the Maghreb, countering Morocco’s expansionist policies that undermine regional stability.
Present at the meeting were Mr. Boualem Boualem, Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic; Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and in charge of African Affairs; Mr. Ammar Abba, Diplomatic Advisor to the President; and Algeria’s Ambassador to Slovenia, Ms. Sabrine Bai.
This high-level encounter is part of Algeria’s broader diplomatic strategy to strengthen bilateral ties with European nations while defending the rights of oppressed peoples, notably in Western Sahara, and opposing Morocco’s illegal occupation.
