Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers today, Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Presidential Palace.
The meeting focused primarily on a draft law establishing general rules governing trust services for electronic transactions and electronic identification. The proposed legislation aims to modernize and secure digital interactions across various sectors in Algeria.
According to a statement released by the Council of Ministers, the new law seeks to create a robust and reliable framework for online commerce, administrative procedures, and other electronic services. It is intended to foster greater confidence among citizens and businesses in utilizing digital platforms, ultimately boosting economic activity and streamlining government operations.
“The adoption of this law represents a significant step forward in our efforts to embrace the digital age,” stated a source within the Council of Ministers. “It will provide the necessary legal foundation for secure and efficient electronic transactions, benefiting both individuals and the national economy.”
The draft law outlines the responsibilities of trust service providers, the requirements for electronic signatures and certificates, and the mechanisms for resolving disputes related to electronic transactions.
