Deadly Fire Claims Six Lives at Perfume Warehouse in Turkey

Six people have died and five others were injured, one critically, in a fire that erupted at a perfume warehouse in Dilovası, northwest Turkey, early Saturday morning. Local authorities confirmed the tragic incident.

Kocaeli Governor, İlhami Aktaş, stated to Turkish media, “Six of our citizens lost their lives in a fire that broke out in the Dilovası region around 9 a.m.” He added that one of the injured is in critical condition due to severe burns, while the other four are in relatively stable condition and receiving treatment.

Firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control and extinguished it, initiating cooling operations to prevent any reignition. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire.

“Firefighters, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s office, are conducting the necessary investigations to determine the causes,” Governor Aktaş stated.

The cause of the fire, which engulfed two floors of the building used as both a warehouse and perfume factory, remains unknown. Initial reports suggest that several explosions preceded the blaze. Emergency teams and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the fire was contained within approximately one hour.
