Medics, Journalists Injured in Settler Attack Near Nablus

Several medics and journalists were injured today in an attack by settlers in the town of Beita, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. The incident occurred during a peaceful event promoting olive harvesting on land in the Jabal Qumas area.

Local sources reported that settlers assaulted participants, resulting in injuries from stones thrown at those present. Among the injured were volunteer paramedics and members of the press covering the event.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its teams treated multiple individuals who sustained injuries from severe beatings. Several volunteer paramedics from the society were among those requiring medical attention, along with five journalists who were subsequently transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has strongly condemned the attack on journalists by armed settlers. The Syndicate described the assault as a “war crime” intended to silence and harm journalists. They emphasized that they are working with the International Federation of Journalists to urge international bodies to provide immediate protection for Palestinian journalists who are increasingly targeted by systematic violence.

The Syndicate and the International Federation of Journalists will pursue legal action through international judicial bodies to hold the perpetrators accountable and bring them to justice for these criminal acts. The safety and security of journalists operating in the occupied territories remains a critical concern.
