Severe Thunderstorms Expected to Hit Several Algerian Provinces

DZWatch Exclusive: Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for severe thunderstorms today, Sunday, according to weather alerts issued by national meteorological services. The warnings highlight the potential for heavy rainfall and associated risks.

An initial alert, categorized as Level One, identifies the following provinces as being at risk: Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, and Souk Ahras. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.

Earlier today, the National Meteorological Office issued a special bulletin forecasting particularly heavy rainfall for a separate group of provinces. This bulletin warns of rainfall amounts potentially ranging from 30 to 50 millimeters, with the possibility of exceeding 70 millimeters in localized areas. The alert remains in effect until 9:00 PM local time.

The provinces covered by this more severe warning include Tizi Ouzou, northern Setif, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf. Residents in these areas are urged to exercise extreme caution and stay informed about the evolving weather situation.
