Algiers – Members of Parliament have emphasized the critical need for efficient execution of planned projects within the framework of the 2026 Finance Bill. During discussions held today, parliamentarians raised a number of observations and proposals aimed at ensuring the bill effectively contributes to economic development and improves the living standards of citizens.
Lawmakers stressed that the success of the 2026 Finance Bill hinges on the timely and effective implementation of its outlined projects. They argued that previous budgets have sometimes fallen short of their potential due to delays and inefficiencies in project execution. Therefore, robust monitoring mechanisms and clear lines of accountability are essential to prevent similar issues.
Several MPs highlighted specific sectors where improved project implementation is particularly crucial. These include infrastructure development, renewable energy initiatives, and programs designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Investing in these areas, they argued, will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and diversify the national economy.
Furthermore, parliamentarians called for greater transparency in the allocation of funds and the selection of contractors. They emphasized the importance of adhering to principles of good governance and ensuring that all projects are subject to rigorous oversight. This, they believe, will help to prevent corruption and ensure that public funds are used effectively.
The National People’s Assembly is currently reviewing the proposed 2026 Finance Bill, with further debates and amendments expected in the coming weeks. The focus remains on crafting a budget that promotes sustainable economic growth and addresses the needs of the Algerian people.
