Algiers – Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boujemaa, will participate in the 75th meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers, scheduled to take place at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, next Tuesday.
The Minister will also participate the following day, Wednesday, in the 41st session of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers. The session’s agenda comprises 14 key items, including a review of the Arab Convention for Combating Terrorism and the Arab Convention for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism.
The Council will also consider the Arab Convention on Regulating the Status of Refugees in Arab Countries, and the draft Arab Convention on the Protection of Personal Data, a proposal put forward by Algeria.
Furthermore, the Council will discuss the crucial topic of “Harmonizing Arab Legislation” by examining draft model laws related to the Arab Model Law on Preventing Hate Speech, the Unified Arab Law on Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the Arab Model Law for the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Arab Countries, and the Arab Model Law for Protecting Children from Recruitment in Armed Conflicts, another proposal initiated by Algeria.
This session is part of the annual periodic meeting of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers, aiming to address shared legal and judicial issues. The meeting seeks to enhance joint Arab action in the legal and judicial fields and to leverage the experiences of Arab countries. The session will also endorse future work programs for both the Technical Secretariat of the Council and the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research.
