Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan has reiterated its firm commitment to pursuing dialogue as the primary means of reaching a lasting agreement with Afghanistan. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday emphasizing the nation’s dedication to peaceful resolutions.
The ministry stated, “Islamabad is a staunch supporter of peace and diplomacy, and has always advocated for the use of force as a last resort.” The statement further stressed the importance of “giving peace and diplomacy every possible opportunity” to succeed.
Echoing this sentiment, Pakistan’s Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, affirmed the country’s unwavering stance. In a press statement, Chaudhry declared that Pakistan “remains committed to resolving all issues through dialogue with Afghanistan and will continue to utilize diplomatic channels to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.”
This renewed commitment comes after both nations signed a temporary ceasefire agreement on October 19th in Doha, Qatar. The agreement aimed to halt border clashes and ensure the protection of civilian populations. The focus now remains on transforming this temporary measure into a comprehensive and enduring peace accord. Pakistan’s continued emphasis on dialogue signals a desire for long-term stability and cooperation with its neighbor, Afghanistan.
