Adrar, November 10, 2025 – The Minister of Industry has issued directives to expedite the rehabilitation works at the brick factory located in Fenoughil, Adrar province. The move aims to ensure the factory’s swift reopening and integration into the local industrial landscape.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, the reactivation of the brick factory is expected to generate new employment opportunities and stimulate industrial and developmental growth within the region. The factory, owned by the Algerian Industrial Building Materials Company (SIMCA), a subsidiary of the Cement Industry Group (GICA), is classified as a recovered industrial asset. It is currently undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation and revitalization process.
The Minister received a detailed presentation outlining the project’s current status, the progress of the ongoing works, and the technical and organizational challenges hindering the completion of the rehabilitation. Following the presentation, the Minister conducted a site visit, inspecting the production line and closely examining the progress of the works and the installation of new equipment.
The rehabilitation process has reportedly achieved a significant milestone, with approximately 80% of the work completed. This progress is attributed to a partnership with the public enterprise SME Est, which is responsible for executing the works and reactivating the production lines under the direct supervision of GICA and SIMCA. The rehabilitation is being carried out in accordance with modern technical standards and established quality benchmarks.
The revitalized factory is anticipated to significantly contribute to the development of the building materials sector in the Adrar region. The government emphasizes its commitment to supporting industrial projects that promote local economic growth and create sustainable employment opportunities.
