Algeria and Germany Launch Partnership to Boost Investment

Algiers, Algeria – The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, has launched a new institutional twinning program. The initiative aims to enhance Algeria’s economic competitiveness and make it a more attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investment.

The launch ceremony took place on Tuesday at the SAFEX Exhibition Center in Algiers. Key figures in attendance included the Director-General of AAPI, Omar Rekkache, the European Union Ambassador to Algeria, Diego Mellado, and representatives from the German Embassy and the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This eight-month program, funded by the European Union, is designed to strengthen AAPI’s capabilities through knowledge and expertise exchange with Germany. The focus areas include modernizing management tools, improving governance, and developing enhanced investment promotion mechanisms.

The twinning program will enable AAPI to improve its technical capabilities in targeting, attracting, and supporting investors. It will also focus on modernizing promotional tools using innovative communication and market analysis techniques. Furthermore, the program will foster proactive approaches to identify value-added investments, technology transfer opportunities, and job creation in priority sectors.

The initiative also aims to improve the management of economic data and investment indicators through digitalization and automation of monitoring and evaluation systems. Crucially, it seeks to enhance the quality of services offered to investors by understanding their needs and ensuring tailored support throughout their investment journey.

This twinning represents a significant step in AAPI’s institutional transformation, reinforcing its role as a central player in implementing the national investment strategy. The approach emphasizes efficiency, transparency, and effective public service.

This program is part of the ongoing partnership between Algeria and the European Union to achieve sustainable economic diversification, underscoring a shared commitment to promoting a development model based on productive investment, innovation, and competitiveness.
