Trade inspectors count 3,000 billion centimes that were not declared by traders.

  • During the first semester of 2023, the Algerian Ministry of Commerce carried out 1,122,692 inspections. These inspections resulted in the identification of 111,928 violations, the issuance of 106,510 judicial reports, and the seizure of goods worth 1.132 billion Algerian dinars.
  • The Ministry of Commerce also imposed administrative measures, including the closure of 7,380 commercial establishments and the rejection of 317 shipments at the border.
  • In the same period, the Ministry of Commerce launched 105,305 operations to combat illegal speculation. These operations resulted in the recording of 72 offenses, the issuance of 72 judicial reports, and the seizure of 873.24 tons of food worth 499.825 million Algerian dinars.
  • The results of the inspections carried out during the first semester of 2023 are as follows:
    • Number of inspections: 1,122,692
    • Number of violations: 111,928
    • Number of judicial reports: 106,510
    • Hidden turnover: 30.21 billion Algerian dinars
    • Value of seizures: 1.132,49 million Algerian dinars
    • Number of administrative closure proposals: 7,380
    • Number of shipments inspected at the border: 22,345
    • Number of shipments rejected at the border: 317
    • Quantity of shipments rejected at the border: 46,344 tons
    • Value of shipments rejected at the border: 9.292 billion Algerian dinars
    • Number of measurements performed with measuring tools: 78,064
    • Number of samples taken for laboratory analysis: 6,450

The Ministry of Commerce has stated that it will continue to intensify its inspection operations in order to protect consumers and ensure the quality and safety of goods and services on the market.
