The official inauguration of the Tanzanian Embassy in Algeria

  • On Wednesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf and Tanzanian Foreign Minister and East African Cooperation, Stergomena Lawrence Tax, inaugurated the official headquarters of the Tanzanian Embassy in Algiers.
  • Tanzanian Foreign Minister Stergomena Tax said on the occasion of the inauguration that “the Tanzanian embassy in Algeria has been in existence for years, but its official inauguration took place today,” pointing to the “depth” of relations between the two countries, which go back 60 years.
  • The speaker mentioned the important role played by former diplomat, Noureddine Ghoudy, in deepening and strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries, as the first Algerian ambassador to Tanzania, praising all his efforts in achieving this.
  • The minister appreciated the crowning of the work of the fifth session of the Algerian-Tanzanian Joint Cooperation Committee with the signing of 6 agreements, memoranda of understanding and executive programs, which defined the priorities of the partnership between the two countries.
  • In this context, Stergomena Tax called for the acceleration of the implementation of the agreements and memoranda of understanding, which covered many areas and vital sectors, expressing her country’s desire to continue to strengthen cooperation ties with Algeria.
  • For his part, Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf appreciated the “positive results” of the work of the fifth session of the Algerian-Tanzanian Joint Cooperation Committee, which came with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.
  • The minister pointed to the “strength and solidity” of the relations between the two countries, confirming their commitment to “strengthening and appreciating the common historical heritage of the relations that unite them at all levels.”
  • Attaf also praised the role played by Noureddine Ghoudy, to move forward with Algerian-Tanzanian relations.
  • On the occasion, the Tanzanian minister honored Ghoudy for his efforts on the diplomatic level and his contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
  • It is worth noting that the inauguration of the embassy headquarters took place in the presence of a number of accredited African ambassadors to Algeria as well as members of the accredited diplomatic corps in Algeria.
