Lekhal Called Up to Replace Benkhemassa for Arab Cup

Cairo – Victor Lekhal has been called up to the Algerian national team (A’) to replace Mohamed Benkhemassa for the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup 2025. The announcement was made by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) on Wednesday.

According to the FAF, Benkhemassa is suffering from back pain, rendering him unable to participate in the tournament. Algeria’s coach, Madjid Bougherra, has turned to Lekhal, a midfielder currently playing for Qadsia SC in Kuwait, to fill the void in the squad.

Lekhal’s inclusion is expected to provide a boost to the midfield, offering both experience and technical ability. He has previously represented Algeria at various levels and is known for his composure on the ball and his ability to dictate the tempo of the game.

The FIFA Arab Cup 2025 is set to be a significant event, bringing together national teams from across the Arab world. Algeria will be looking to make a strong showing and compete for the title. Bougherra and his team will be hoping that Lekhal can quickly integrate into the squad and contribute to their success.

Details regarding Benkhemassa’s recovery and the duration of his absence have not yet been disclosed. The focus remains on preparing the team for the challenges ahead in the Arab Cup, with Lekhal expected to play a key role.
