Algiers – Lieutenant General Said Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), received Zimbabwean Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, at the ANP headquarters today. Minister Kashiri is in Algeria for a working visit leading a high-level military delegation.
The official reception commenced with the playing of the national anthems and a review of troops from various branches of the ANP.
The meeting was attended by key Algerian military figures, including the Commander of Land Forces, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defence, the Commander of the Republican Guard, Force Commanders, the Director of the Minister of Defence’s Office, the Acting Commander of the National Gendarmerie, Department Heads, the Inspector General of the Army, and Central Directors from the ANP General Staff and the Ministry of National Defence. Members of the Zimbabwean military delegation were also present.
During the discussions, both parties addressed the state of military cooperation between Algeria and Zimbabwe, exploring avenues for further strengthening ties in the future. They also discussed shared security challenges facing the world, particularly on the African continent, and exchanged perspectives on various issues of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, symbolic gifts were exchanged. Minister Kashiri then signed the Golden Record of the ANP General Staff.
Following the meeting, Minister Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri visited the Martyr’s Memorial, where she laid a wreath and paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the Algerian revolution. This visit underscores the strong historical ties and solidarity between Algeria and Zimbabwe.
