Algiers, Algeria – Several key roads in the capital will be partially closed this Friday, November 14, 2025, according to an announcement from the Algiers Province authorities. The closures are due to the staging of the Algiers International Half-Marathon.
The Province stated that the temporary traffic restrictions are necessary to facilitate the race, which is expected to draw a record-breaking 6,000 participants, both local and international.
The closures will affect a 21-kilometer stretch along the marathon route, with roads reopening gradually as runners pass each section. The authorities are urging residents, particularly those living along the route, to cooperate with the temporary measures and contribute to the success of the international sporting event.
Residents are asked to avoid parking vehicles along the course starting Thursday night and to cooperate with security personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain the city’s cleanliness. The Province apologized for any inconvenience caused by these measures, assuring citizens that roads will reopen immediately after the last runners have passed.
Race Details:
The assembly point is at Ferhani Stadium in Bab El Oued, with a gathering time of 7:00 AM. The official start time is scheduled for 8:30 AM. The finish line is located in front of the Algiers Province headquarters, with an estimated arrival time of around 12:00 PM.
The course extends east along the waterfront, passing through streets including Amir Khaled, Said Touafdit (Rais Hamidou), Abdelkader Ziyar, Colonel Abdel Rahman Mira, 1st November, Ernesto Che Guevara, Zighoud Youcef, the Okid Brothers, Abane Ramdane, Asselah Hocine, Colonel Amirouche, Hassiba Ben Bouali, Mohamed Belouizdad, and Oued Kniss, before returning to the finish line.
Additionally, the road connecting Sofia Park to Zighoud Youcef Street, up to the El Safir Hotel, will be closed from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM to secure the area and prepare the finish line.
The Algiers International Half-Marathon 2025 is anticipated to be a significant sporting and tourist event, showcasing the beauty and organization of the Algerian capital, with broad participation and runners from various countries.
