Tizi Ouzou, Algeria – The Algerian national football team, “Les Verts,” are set to face Uganda this evening at the Stade Hocine Aït Ahmed in Tizi Ouzou. The match, kicking off at 17:00, marks the final game in Group G of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Having already secured their place in the World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, this match is largely ceremonial for the Desert Warriors. However, the team is determined to finish the qualifiers on a high note with a victory in front of their home fans.
The team concluded their preparations with a final training session at the stadium, focusing on tactical cohesion and refining their game plan. The atmosphere within the squad is reportedly positive, buoyed by the recent qualification success.
Unfortunately, the team will be without the services of Baghdad Bounedjah and Youcef Belaili, both sidelined due to injuries sustained during the previous match against Somalia. Their absence will present an opportunity for other players to step up and showcase their abilities.
Algeria secured their fifth World Cup qualification in history with a dominant 3-0 victory over Somalia at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran last Thursday. This win cemented their place among the nations heading to the expanded 48-team tournament in North America.
While qualification is already assured, a win against Uganda would provide a fitting end to a successful qualifying campaign and further boost morale within the squad as they look ahead to the challenges of the World Cup.
