Palestinian Advocacy Group Condemns Travel Bans on Released Prisoners

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Club has strongly condemned the continued restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on the travel of families of released Palestinian prisoners. The organization characterizes these measures as a form of collective punishment targeting Palestinian families.

In a statement released today, the Prisoner’s Club highlighted the plight of several released prisoners who are facing serious health challenges and require ongoing medical care. The absence of their families, prevented from traveling to be with them, exacerbates their suffering. The organization asserts that Israeli authorities are extending punitive measures beyond the prisoners’ period of incarceration, using travel bans as a means of exerting further pressure and inflicting hardship on their families.

The Prisoner’s Club emphasized that for years, Israeli policies have systematically targeted the families of prisoners and released detainees. These tactics allegedly include threats, arbitrary arrests, and, crucially, preventing the vast majority of deported individuals from reuniting with their families in the West Bank.

According to the statement, 383 Palestinian prisoners who have been released remain in exile, often since the moment of their release. Among them are 154 prisoners out of 250, who were serving lengthy sentences and were freed under the ceasefire agreement reached last October. The Prisoner’s Club views these ongoing restrictions as a violation of human rights and a continuation of policies designed to collectively punish Palestinians.
