The Ministry of Health and the High Commission for Digitalization signed a collaborative agreement Wednesday evening aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of the health sector. This initiative will focus on data exchange and the implementation of a national interoperability system.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters, with the Minister of Health, Professor Mohamed Sidik Ait Mesoudane, and the High Commissioner for Digitalization, Mariam Ben Mouloud, in attendance, along with officials from both institutions.
This agreement seeks to establish the foundations for an integrated digital health system, enhancing the quality of health services and improving management and monitoring mechanisms. It aligns with the national vision for digital transformation and the modernization of public administration.
The agreement encompasses technical and organizational measures to ensure the security and protection of health data, guaranteeing the confidentiality of information and respecting the privacy of citizens. Data protection is a key priority.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of Health emphasized that this step embodies the President’s directives to achieve comprehensive digital transformation. He stated that digitizing the health sector has become an irreversible strategic choice. The ministry is working to establish a unified national network connecting health institutions across the country, improving performance and facilitating citizen access to healthcare under optimal conditions.
The Minister highlighted the electronic patient file as a cornerstone of this transformation. This will allow for the storage of health data in a secure database, enabling doctors to access it in any health facility, avoiding redundant tests and improving the monitoring of health conditions.
Ait Mesoudane called for the immediate activation of priority digital platforms, such as the electronic patient file platform, medical equipment maintenance platforms, bed availability monitoring, appointment booking, and medical training platforms, in addition to platforms for pharmacies, compulsory reportable diseases, and radiology treatment.
Mariam Ben Mouloud affirmed the High Commission for Digitalization’s commitment to supporting and accompanying the Ministry of Health in implementing this strategic national project by providing the necessary technical and institutional support. She considered the digitalization of the health sector a fundamental pillar in Algeria’s digital transformation journey.
The Minister of Health expressed his gratitude to the High Commission for Digitalization for its effective support and continuous efforts in promoting the digitalization of the health sector, emphasizing that this collaboration will contribute to the modernization of the sector.
