Tipaza, Algeria – Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and National Planning, Said Saayoud, visited the province of Tipaza yesterday evening to assess the ongoing efforts to control wildfires that have broken out in several of the region’s forests.
The visit, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, aimed to provide the Minister with a first-hand understanding of the situation on the ground and to evaluate the effectiveness of the deployed resources. Minister Saayoud was briefed by local officials and emergency responders on the strategies being implemented to contain the blazes and prevent further spread.
The wildfires, which erupted earlier this week, have posed a significant challenge to local authorities and firefighting teams. Strong winds and dry vegetation have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames, making containment efforts particularly difficult.
DZWatch understands that the Minister emphasized the importance of coordinated action between all relevant agencies, including the Civil Protection services, local administrations, and security forces. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to providing all necessary support to the affected communities and to ensuring the safety of residents.
While details regarding the extent of the damage caused by the fires are still being assessed, preliminary reports indicate that a considerable area of forestland has been affected. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and to avoid activities that could potentially ignite further fires.
The Ministry of Interior is expected to release a more comprehensive report on the situation in Tipaza in the coming days. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
