Algiers – Algerian Civil Protection services have successfully extinguished numerous wildfires that erupted across ten provinces in recent hours. Firefighting operations are ongoing to contain the remaining blazes, utilizing significant material and human resources, according to a statement released by the General Directorate of Civil Protection on Friday.
Firefighters have been working tirelessly to combat the outbreaks, which were fueled by dry vegetation and strong winds in several regions. The Civil Protection Directorate emphasized the rapid response and coordinated efforts that contributed to the successful containment of many fires, preventing further damage to forests and populated areas.
“Our teams have been deployed strategically across the affected areas, working around the clock to suppress these fires,” a spokesperson for the Civil Protection stated. “We are committed to protecting our natural resources and ensuring the safety of our citizens.”
While significant progress has been made, authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire immediately. They are also reminding the public to avoid activities that could potentially spark wildfires, such as burning agricultural waste or carelessly discarding cigarettes, particularly during periods of high temperatures and dry conditions.
The Civil Protection Directorate is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to ensure the effective allocation of resources and a swift response to any new outbreaks. The ongoing firefighting operations are expected to continue until all remaining fires are fully extinguished and the risk of re-ignition is minimized.
