Tipaza Breathes a Sigh of Relief After Wildfires Subdued

Tipaza, Algeria – Firefighters in Tipaza province successfully extinguished all remaining wildfires Friday evening, after battling blazes that erupted across several municipalities in recent hours. Strong winds and volatile weather conditions had fueled the rapid spread of the fires.

According to local reports, intervention teams managed to gain complete control of the fires following strenuous efforts that lasted for many hours. Field units are maintaining surveillance and monitoring the affected areas to prevent any potential reignition.

The fires initially broke out Thursday night in forested areas of Errahat, Sidi Ghilas, Gouraya, Muslimoun, and Hadjera En Nouss. Gale-force winds, exceeding 60 km/h, contributed to the swift expansion of the fire zones.

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement confirming the evacuation of 55 families from several neighborhoods and villages threatened by the fires in the western municipalities of the province. This measure was taken as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of residents.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that no injuries or casualties have been reported as a result of the fires.

A significant deployment of personnel and logistical resources was mobilized for the firefighting efforts, including 354 civil protection agents of various ranks. Reinforcements were brought in from the neighboring provinces of Medea, Blida, Relizane, Chlef, and Ain Defla. A total of 97 fire trucks were strategically positioned around the fire locations.

Air support was provided by specialized BE200 firefighting aircraft from the People’s National Army, which played a crucial role in accelerating the suppression of the wildfires.
