Touggourt, Algeria – Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Ait Mesbah, officially inaugurated a new 240-bed hospital in Touggourt Province on Saturday. The opening marks a significant enhancement to the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Ait Mesbah emphasized the considerable value and quality that the new facility will bring to the regional healthcare system. He highlighted the hospital’s extensive capabilities, designed to ensure high-quality medical services that meet the needs and expectations of citizens.
The Minister noted that the state-of-the-art facility is equipped with modern amenities and possesses the potential to evolve into a university hospital and a leading healthcare hub. He further stated that the realization of this vital project reflects the commitment of the nation’s highest authorities, who prioritize the Southern provinces and their unique public health requirements.
The ministerial delegation received a detailed briefing on the hospital’s advanced digital information system. This system enables precise management and processing of patient records, facilitating seamless communication and data exchange between various medical departments.
The expansive hospital complex, spanning 60,000 square meters and built at a cost exceeding 4 billion Algerian dinars, is equipped with cutting-edge medical technology. The three-story structure includes an intensive care unit with 18 beds, various hospitalization and isolation wards, and an operating suite with six rooms. Additional facilities include a dialysis unit, medical imaging and digital radiology departments, a functional rehabilitation wing, a pharmacy, and specialized units for ENT surgery and cardiology, along with administrative offices and technical services.
