Algiers, Algeria – Selim Mezri has been elected as the new President of the Algerian Badminton Federation. The election took place during the General Assembly held at the National Center for the Preparation of Elite Athletes in Souidania, Algiers.
Mezri will serve for the remainder of the Olympic term, covering the period from 2025 to 2028. The election marks a new chapter for the federation as it prepares for upcoming national and international competitions.
The General Assembly saw participation from representatives of badminton clubs across the country, who cast their votes to determine the leadership of the federation. The atmosphere was reported to be positive, with a shared commitment to the development and promotion of badminton throughout Algeria.
Following his election, President Mezri outlined his vision for the federation, emphasizing the importance of grassroots development, enhancing training programs for athletes, and increasing participation in the sport at all levels. He also highlighted the need to strengthen the federation’s relationships with international badminton organizations to ensure Algerian athletes have access to the best possible opportunities.
