Algiers – The 26th edition of the International Handicrafts Fair concluded today in Algiers, under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industry, Mrs. Houria Meddahi.
The event, which carried the theme “Algerian Traditional Industry: Heritage, Authenticity, and Artistic Creativity,” showcased the diverse and rich artistic traditions of Algeria and other participating nations.
Mrs. Meddahi, during the closing ceremony, lauded the high quality of the exhibited crafts and the significant contribution of the traditional industry sector to the national economy. She emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting artisans and promoting the growth and sustainability of this vital sector.
“The traditional industry represents a cornerstone of our cultural identity and a powerful engine for economic development,” the Minister stated. “We are dedicated to providing artisans with the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive and preserve our unique heritage for future generations.”
The fair featured a wide array of handcrafted products, including textiles, ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, and woodwork. It provided a platform for artisans to showcase their skills, network with industry professionals, and connect with potential buyers.
Organizers reported a significant increase in visitor attendance compared to previous editions, highlighting the growing interest in traditional crafts and the enduring appeal of Algerian artistry.
