Gaza Faces Unprecedented Humanitarian Catastrophe

Gaza City – The Gaza Strip is currently facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, according to Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director of the Government Media Office in Gaza. Speaking on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Al-Thawabta emphasized the dire situation confronting the region after two years of conflict.

Al-Thawabta warned of the deteriorating conditions faced by the Gazan population, exacerbated by recent rainfall and plummeting temperatures. He highlighted the critical shortage of essential resources, including shelter, food, and medical supplies, leaving many vulnerable, especially women and children.

“The situation is beyond critical,” Al-Thawabta stated. “We are witnessing a humanitarian disaster unfolding before our eyes. The ongoing conflict has crippled our infrastructure and left our people struggling to survive.”

The lack of adequate housing and heating, coupled with the spread of waterborne diseases, poses a significant threat to public health. Medical facilities are overwhelmed and lack the necessary equipment and medications to treat the injured and sick. Access to clean water and sanitation remains severely limited.

The international community is urged to provide immediate and substantial assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Gazan people. Al-Thawabta called for an end to the conflict and the lifting of restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid, stressing that the current situation is unsustainable and demands urgent action to avert further catastrophe.
