Algiers – The African Development Bank (AfDB) is keenly interested in replicating Algeria’s developmental advancements across the African continent, according to AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah. This statement was made following a meeting with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Algiers on Sunday.
Ould Tah highlighted that the meeting provided an opportunity to express the AfDB’s appreciation for Algeria’s developmental progress and the potential for transferring Algerian expertise in various sectors, including housing and seawater desalination, to other African nations. He emphasized the bank’s desire to foster greater cooperation with Algeria and leverage its successful initiatives for broader regional benefit.
“This meeting was a chance to express the African Development Bank Group’s appreciation for the level of development in Algeria, and the promising prospects for transferring the Algerian experience in many areas, such as housing and seawater desalination, to African countries,” Ould Tah stated.
The AfDB President also outlined the bank’s agenda, particularly concerning prospective collaborations with Algeria. He expressed the AfDB’s interest in contributing to the implementation of the Laghouat-Ghardaia-El Menia railway project. Ould Tah noted the project’s significance not only for Algeria but also for Africa, as it aims to connect Sahel countries to the Mediterranean, facilitating the movement of goods and people.
Furthermore, Ould Tah conveyed his gratitude to President Tebboune for his strong support during his candidacy for the AfDB presidency, acknowledging Algeria’s decisive backing from the outset. He reaffirmed the AfDB’s appreciation for Algeria’s consistent and robust support.
The AfDB’s focus on Algeria’s development model underscores the growing recognition of Algeria’s role as a key player in driving economic progress and sustainable development across the African continent.
