President Tebboune Chairs Council of Ministers Meeting

Algiers, November 16, 2025 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers today.

According to the Presidency, the council session addressed several key presentations and strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering regional development and national infrastructure.

Among the topics discussed was the proposed elevation of administrative districts in the High Plateaus and Southern regions to fully-fledged provinces (wilayas). This initiative seeks to empower these regions with greater autonomy and resources to address local needs and stimulate economic growth.

The Council also reviewed the progress of the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine project and the Tindouf-Bechar mining railway line. These projects are crucial to Algeria’s industrial development and its ambition to become a major exporter of iron ore.

Furthermore, the meeting included a progress report on the construction of the 500-bed University Hospital Center in Constantine. This project is a significant investment in the healthcare infrastructure of the region, promising to improve access to quality medical services for the local population.

Finally, the Council of Ministers deliberated on the acquisition of specialized equipment for the benefit of the institution supporting the development of digitization. This move underscores the government’s commitment to advancing Algeria’s digital transformation agenda and fostering innovation across various sectors.
