Tlemcen: Authorities Seize Firearms and Hallucinogenic Pills

Tlemcen, Algeria – Customs officials in Tlemcen have thwarted separate attempts to smuggle illicit goods into the country, resulting in the seizure of firearms and a large quantity of hallucinogenic pills. Inspectors at the Messali El Hadj Airport in Tlemcen successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle five antique, locally-made automatic pistols. The firearms were discovered concealed within the personal luggage of a passenger arriving on a flight from Lille, France. According to the General Directorate of Customs, the contraband was seized, and the suspect has been handed over to the relevant judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.

In a separate incident, agents from the multi-task force in Sebdou, under the jurisdiction of the Tlemcen Customs Inspectorate, seized 4,175 tablets of foreign-made Pregabalin 300mg, a type of hallucinogenic drug. The pills were found inside a black bag hidden near a roadside. The suspicious package drew the attention of the agents during a routine patrol within their designated area.

The seized narcotics have been impounded, and the relevant judicial authorities have been notified to initiate legal procedures and launch a thorough investigation into the matter.
