Algeria Launches Cinema Club Award at Timimoun Film Festival

DZWatch Exclusive: The Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts has announced the launch of the Algerian Cinema Club Award, set to debut at the Timimoun International Short Film Festival. The festival is scheduled to take place from November 18th to 22nd, 2025.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, this initiative aims to empower cinema clubs across the nation, enabling them to contribute to shaping cinematic discourse and enriching discussions surrounding the aesthetics and issues presented in film.

The Ministry emphasizes that this award represents a significant step in the development of the national cinematic landscape. It provides cinema clubs with a platform to express their critical perspectives and analyses.

A judging panel comprised of representatives from various cinema clubs will oversee the awarding of the prize. This approach, the Ministry notes, fosters a culture of cinematic dialogue and solidifies a collective approach to interpreting creative works.

DZWatch will continue to provide updates on the Timimoun International Short Film Festival and the inaugural Algerian Cinema Club Award.
