Tragic Accident Claims Lives of 42 Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

A devastating road accident near Medina, Saudi Arabia, has claimed the lives of 42 Indian pilgrims. The collision, involving a bus carrying the pilgrims and a fuel tanker, occurred early Monday morning on the highway connecting Mecca and Medina.

Reports indicate that only one person survived the horrific incident. The impact of the collision resulted in a massive fire that engulfed the bus, making identification of the victims extremely challenging. Rescue operations were immediately launched in the desert area where the accident occurred.

The bus was carrying approximately 42 Indian pilgrims at the time of the crash. The accident took place around 1:30 AM local time.

The Indian Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, expressed his profound shock and sorrow over the tragedy. He confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are working diligently to provide comprehensive support to the affected individuals and the families of the deceased.

The Indian Consulate in Jeddah has established a dedicated operations room to coordinate assistance efforts and closely monitor developments related to this tragic event. Authorities are working to provide necessary support and information to the families during this difficult time.
