Naftal and Continental Partner to Supply Tires to Algerian Market

Algiers, Algeria – Naftal, the Algerian national oil company, has entered into a commercial agreement with Continental, the German tire manufacturer, to supply the national market with 1.5 million tires for light and heavy vehicles in its initial phase. The agreement was signed on Monday.

This partnership represents a strategic move within Naftal’s program to provide a diverse range of tires to meet domestic demand. The first shipment, consisting of 150,000 tires, is expected to arrive before the end of the year. A second shipment of 350,000 tires is scheduled for delivery during the first quarter of 2026.

Naftal anticipates that the implementation of this program will lead to a significant reduction in tire prices, ranging from 35 to 55 percent compared to current market prices. This decrease is expected to enhance consumer purchasing power and stabilize the tire market.

Distribution will be managed through Naftal’s extensive national network, which includes over 2,000 points of sale across Algeria. This widespread network will ensure convenient access to the tires for consumers and a balanced distribution throughout the country.

The company is also preparing to launch a second phase of the project, aimed at supplying an additional 4.5 million tires for passenger and heavy vehicles to the national market. This expansion will guarantee sufficient supply and meet growing demand in the coming years.

The signing ceremony was overseen by Naftal’s CEO, Djamal Cherdoud, with participation from Hoyos Ferdinand, Continental’s Executive Director for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (via videoconference), Bulent Erdogan, Continental’s Director for North Africa, Abdelhak Omrani, Secretary-General of the National Union of Naftal, and other company executives.
