Algeria Explores Energy Cooperation with Siemens Energy

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received a delegation from the German company Siemens Energy on Monday. The delegation was led by Dietmar Siersdorfer, Executive Vice President and General Manager for the Middle East and North Africa region, according to a statement from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the existing cooperation between Siemens Energy and Sonatrach. They acknowledged the strong relationship and emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership that has developed over the years. Discussions focused on deepening collaboration in the oil and gas industry, energy equipment, engineering services, training programs, and enhancing national integration in projects.

The discussions also covered future cooperation related to the energy transition, particularly decarbonization, emissions reduction, green hydrogen development, and the modernization of energy infrastructure. Furthermore, they explored investment opportunities in mining projects and seawater desalination projects, recognizing their potential within Algeria’s industrial development.

Minister Arkab highlighted the importance of expanding partnerships with Siemens Energy to ensure the transfer of knowledge and expertise, promote human capital development, and jointly integrate modern technologies into hydrocarbon and mining projects, specifically in energy control and advanced engineering.

Dietmar Siersdorfer commended Algeria’s commitment to developing the hydrocarbons and mining sectors. He expressed Siemens Energy’s readiness to support the sector’s programs with innovative solutions and advanced technologies. He also affirmed their commitment to contributing to the implementation of strategic projects, particularly those related to decarbonization, local industry development, and human resource training. This collaboration aims to strengthen Algeria’s energy sector and promote sustainable development. The partnership reflects a mutual commitment to innovation and progress in the energy landscape.
