Algiers – In a significant move towards modernizing foreign trade and accelerating the digital transformation of public administration, Algeria has launched a national platform dedicated to import operations. The initiative aims to streamline processes for economic operators engaged in importing goods for their own production or equipment needs.
The platform is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the High Commissariat for Digitalization. An agreement was signed to leverage the state’s cloud computing resources to host the platform, ensuring data security and national digital sovereignty. The platform will be hosted within a secure, national cloud environment managed by the Algerian National Center for Digital Services, reducing reliance on foreign servers.
The Minister of Foreign Trade emphasized that the project represents a “real turning point in the modernization of foreign trade management tools.” He noted that the platform, launched this November, will enable economic operators to register their needs and benefit from fast and transparent digital services without the need for physical visits to various administrations.
The new platform is designed to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, expedite the processing of applications, and improve oversight and coordination among all stakeholders involved in import operations. It will integrate various ministerial departments and relevant bodies, including Algerian Customs and banks, into a unified digital space.
This integration will allow for precise monitoring of the entire process, from application submission to execution, enhancing transparency and improving the efficiency of economic decision-making. The initiative aligns with Presidential Decree No. 25, which mandates the widespread adoption of information and communication technologies within public administrations.
The High Commissioner for Digitalization praised the collaboration, affirming that the agreement is part of a comprehensive national vision aimed at unifying and streamlining the state’s digital infrastructure.
