Mogadishu – In a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism, Somali security forces have neutralized three members of the Al-Shabaab militant group during a targeted operation in the southwestern region of the country.
The operation, which took place in the village of Moro Gabey in the Bakool region, also resulted in the injury of ten other militants, according to a statement released by the Somali military. The statement further detailed that the forces successfully recovered military equipment, including weapons and ammunition, previously utilized by the Al-Shabaab fighters.
The military operation underscores the intensified efforts by the Somali army to combat Al-Shabaab, a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda. Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks and bombings that have tragically claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians and security personnel.
