London, UK – Samir Zaitouni, an Algerian national hailed as a hero, has been discharged from the hospital following a serious incident on a train in Huntingdon. Zaitouni was injured while bravely intervening during an attack on passengers.
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed Zaitouni’s release, marking a significant step in his recovery. He is now continuing his recuperation at home.
Zaitouni sustained injuries while confronting an individual who was attempting to harm passengers. His actions have been widely praised for preventing further harm and protecting the lives of others. He received medical care from the National Health Service (NHS).
In a statement, Zaitouni’s family expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received from the public. “We are incredibly thankful for all the support and kind words regarding Samir’s bravery on the night of the incident,” they stated. “We are happy to have him home, but he still requires a period of recovery. We kindly ask for privacy so we can care for him as a family.”
Eyewitnesses have lauded Zaitouni’s exceptional courage during the incident at Huntingdon station. The BTP described his response as “heroic in every sense of the word,” emphasizing his selfless actions in safeguarding numerous passengers.
Zaitouni, who has been employed by the train operating company for over 20 years as a service host, was welcomed back by his employer. David Horne, Managing Director of LNER, stated, “In a dangerous moment, Sam did not hesitate to take brave action to protect those around him. His actions were incredibly heroic, and we are proud of him and all our colleagues who acted bravely that night. We wish him a swift and full recovery.”
